Quick Start Guide

 

Project documents and information are posted and regularly updated to enable fast and easy access to the information you need. Use this Quick Start guide to help you get started. Use the Help menus in the site to access more detailed assistance.

Login and Password: Each person who requires access to the site must have their own unique login and password. Your Local Construction Association can provide you with a login and password to access the site

Viewing Project Information: When you first login the system opens on the Main Page. To view a list of current projects click on My Searches located on the top right side of the page, click on either 'Current Projects' or on the link for the Local Construction Association you are interested in. You will be presented with a list of available projects.

To view report of all the available information on a project click on the 'View Project Sheet' link. If documents are available on-line a 'View Documents' link will be visible. Either click on that link or on the link on the Project Sheet to open the Documents Tab.

Search for Projects: There are several options to search for and work with project information. On the Main page click on Project Quick Search to open a list of criteria that you can select from. Once your criteria are selected click on the Search button to display a list of all projects matching the criteria. Click on the Activity Manager icon on the top right of the page to print a report of all the information for your selected projects. The Activity Manager also allows you to Subscribe for Email Notices of new information (such as Addenda) or add projects to your desktop as Favourites for multiple projects at once.

If you regularly search for projects matching the same criteria use the Project Search menu at the top to create and save your own customized search. Once saved the search will display in the My Searches list on the Main page when ever you login.

View Documents: The Documents tab to open a set of folders that list all the available documents. Click on a folder to open it, then click on the a document name to view and work with it. Drawings automatically open in the SourceViewer. Specifications and text documents automatically open in the Adobe Acrobat viewer. Text documents are searchable allowing you to easily locate the specific information you need. Click the Binoculars icon in the Adobe viewer and enter the words to search for. Drawings automatically open in the SourceViewer.

Print Documents locally: Click on the blue document name to open the document Viewer. Locate the page you want to print then click on the Print icon on the Viewer toolbar. If you have a Hewlett Packard printer you can print directly from the Documents tab by clicking the checkbox(s) beside the pages you want and clicking the HP Print button at the bottom of the page.

Download Documents: Download documents to your own computer to work with or print them locally. From the Documents tab click the checkbox(s) to the right of the document you want and click on the Download button at the bottom of the page. Alternately you can use the Download Manager on the toolbar within the Viewer to select and download the documents you want. .

Order Prints: You can order drawings, specifications, addenda or other available documents to be printed for you by selecting the entire folder (checkbox) or individual pages you want from the Documents tab and clicking the Order button at the bottom of the page.

On Screen Takeoff: The drawing viewer provides you with a set of counting, measuring and markup tools that allow you to do takeoffs and export the results to your spreadsheet or estimating program.

Viewing and Working with Drawings - On the Documents tab click on the blue link for any drawing. Thi will open the entire starting with the drawing you selected. page you selected. Place your mouse cursor on the frame bar on the left of the drawing and drag the bar to the right. An index of all drawings is then visible. Expand the Viewer and move the frame bar back for a larger image area. The following chart details the functions of the tools on the Viewer toolbar.

Add a note – Click on the spot where you want to enter a note. Right click to read the note after                                            

Add text – Click on the spot where you want to enter text on to the page

Zoom in or out 20% - Click to zoom

Zoom a rectangle – Click and drag a box to view an area

Quick un-zoom – Click to expand to see the full image

          

Count – Count items by clicking on them; double click on the last item to create a total   

Measure area – Measure the area of any shape by clicking on the corners; double click on the last corner

Measure curves or multi-segments – Measure length of multi-segments by clicking on corners or along radius; double click to total                           

Measure length from point to point – Click on the start and end points to measure a length                      

 

                       Move a markup – Select a markup and move it to a new location

Scroll wheel zoom – Point to a spot and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out

Set print options – Set the scale (eg. - 100%, 50%) to print a drawing at

Print a drawing – Print either the full page or just a zoomed in section
